Opening ACORNS Time Capsule

We finally got together to open the time capsule today. It was disgusting, but we managed to get everything out of the capsule and sorted.

Here you can see our surveys about each other and some personal items (that all somehow broke). Alane's cotillion favor, my electronic diary thing, acorn cookie cutter, and Naomi's Winnie the Pooh phone hangy thing.

The other contents. Sean's phone, Ronnie's pencil, movie ticket, bart ticket, other senior year memorabilia. Oliver even wrote a letter to himself, but I forgot to take a picture of that. It's there in this picture, but you just can't read it.

We had also placed a picture of us in there. Look what happened to it.

I'm pretty sure this was what it should have looked like.

I really wanted to keep all my letters, but due to contamination, I had to throw them away. Sigh, I'm feeling the nostalgia. It's crazy how time flies.

ACORNS frames

Four years ago, I wanted to give ACORNS a graduation present. That didn't happen. Soooo, four years later (in time to relocate and reopen the time capsule) I relocate those frames, and make pictures to put in them.

My card corrupted while I was trying to upload pictures, which forced me to reformat my card.. so sadly I don't have pictures of the frames or the lovely wrapping paper I used. The frames were basic 4in x 6in frames with a letter at the top. Of course I got "A," "C," "O," "R," "N," "S." and randomly a "G" .. I still don't know what to do with that one.. I don't have friends with names that start with a "G." Anyways, since I don't have pictures, I will just share the pictures that went in the frames.

Alane and I met in the office after we were both stung by bees back in the first grade, but we've known of each other since kindergarten.

Oliver. For some reason, my face has a tendency to "accidentally" meet his fist.

Ronnie is my little hermaphroditic sister. We like free stuff.

Naomi and I used to do cartwheels every Friday to relieve stress. (see bottom right corner)

Sean first "taught" me how to drive. We also have the same car.. ish.

I know, where's mine? I haven't decided what to do with it yet. I will most likely collage some of my favorite ACORNS pictures. However, there's no rush for me since I don't really have a room, and therefore, no place to display it.

ACORNS time capsule

ACORNS buried a time capsule four years ago. It was filled with surveys about each person, personal items and other random things.

A few days ago, we go back to dig it up. We dig a massive hole, but still we couldn't find it.. I go back up a couple days later, and found that we were actually really close the other day. See the target bag peeking out?

So I just started to remove the dirt around it. At this point I was hoping I could just pull it out, but it was still too deep in the ground. The extraction was harder than I had anticipated it to be.

I just kept removing the dirt around the capsule with my bare hands, I mean stick. When I thought I had removed enough dirt around it, I tried pulling again, but it still didn't budge. So I just used my stick as a lever to push and lift it out.

Success. Almost. The roots wouldn't let go.

Finally.

I forgot to mention that I had gone up a few months after we had first buried it to put the capsule into a bag so water wouldn't get into the capsule. I forgot I had even double bagged it.

After I removed both bags, I discover that the double bagging wasn't enough to prevent it from getting wet.

You can't see it in this picture, but there was condensation in the capsule, and because of the moisture, and to my disgust, mold had grown. I was so grossed out, and wishing I was in lab so I could identify the mold. We should have thrown a few of those silica packets in there. urgh. Well now we just need to find time to get together to open it. The sooner the better guys.

Bonnie doodle

After watching Toy Story 3 back in June

I stumbled upon this picture on tumblr.

And decided to draw it.

I thought it was cool that I was drawing a computer generated image by using traditional methods. Well, that was the product of two days of drawing, then I stowed it away, because of home complications and rearrangements. A couple days ago, I decided to start up again.

So I drew in Woody.

Filled in her arm, and made some final touch-ups.

Could be better. I didn't realize I got the proportions wrong. Her head should be a bit bigger and more tilted. I kept having problems with the mouth too. I really like how I drew Woody though.

Calamitous

I was going to start this blog as a place to record my creative processes, but I haven't made anything lately. I will soon. I have many things in process. I'm kinda like Professor Calamitous on Jimmy Neutron who starts a lot of things, but never finishes them. I'm assuming you guys have seen a few episodes of Jimmy Neutron to know who I'm talking about.

Anywho.

I decided to start blogging now, because I felt like sharing that the other day I went to Collins to shoot hoops with my cousin. That's not very exciting. But I did get hit by the basketball. Where? It hit me below the waist. And that brought me to remember the time someone hit me with a softball in eighth grade and a volleyball in the tenth grade. What is wrong me? And why can't I dodge a ball that is headed for the area under my waist? I know, I know, that's what she said. But hey, at least I'm not a dude.

Just felt like sharing.
